24 ore dopo i Golden Globe, premi della stampa estera, sono state annunciate le nomination ai SAG Awards, premi assegnati ai migliori attori tv e cinematografici dell’anno. Nella stragrande maggioranza dei casi, chi viene nominato e vince il SAG viene poi nominato e trionfa agli OSCAR. Questo perché i votanti sono praticamente gli stessi. Sono quindi candidature molto attese, e decisamente più valide rispetto ai Golden Globe in funzione Academy, con Glenn Close e Amy Adams, ovvero le due attrici più candidate di sempre agli Oscar (rispettivamente 7 e 6 volte) ma mai uscite vincitrici, in nomination. Glenn ha già vinto due SAG, mentre Amy ne ha vinto uno ‘di gruppo’ con American Hustle.
Per il resto ci sono tutti gli attori più in voga degli ultimi mesi, con Viola Davis e Frances McDormand a sfidare Carey Mulligan e Vanessa Kirby tra le migliori attrici, Steven Yeun doverosa novità rispetto ai Golden tra gli uomini e Chadwick Boseman, deceduto nel 2020, candidato sia come miglior attore protagonista che non protagonista (per i pochi minuti di Da 5 Bloods). Esagerato? Assolutamente sì, ma questa è Hollywood.

Tra le serie è The Crown contro tutti, con 3 attrici non protagoniste a scannarsi, mentre sbalordisce la presenza di Rege-Jean Page con “Bridgerton”, sicuramente miglior culo dell’anno.
