Esattamente come i Golden Globe, anche i Critics’ Choice Awards si dividono in ‘categorie’, moltiplicando le nomination tra generi.
Eppure nella notte è avvenuto l’impronosticabile, perché Lady Gaga è stata incoronata miglior attrice al pari di Glenn Close, che l’aveva invece battuta sul filo di lana proprio ai Golden Globe.
Un ex-aequo rarissimo, e difficilmente ripetibile in casa Oscar, con la terza incomoda Olivia Colman incoronata miglior attrice comedy. Per la Germanotta c’è stato addirittura il bis, grazie alla miglior canzone originale (Shallow), all’interno di una cerimonia che ha visto Roma, capolavoro di Alfonso Cuaron, vincere tutti i maggiori premi. Miglior film, regia, film straniero.
Academy Oscar, siete stati avvisati. In ambito televisivo, invece, 3 premi a testa per The Americans e The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, con The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story eletta miglior serie limitata e in trionfo grazie a Darren Criss. Tra le attrici altro ex-aequeo, roba da pazzi, per le due bravissime Amy Adams e Patricia Arquette.
